I was really impressed by the whole process when I really needed it. The waiting times were absolutely minimal (didn't even get the chance to read a magazine in all the different departments I visited!!) and all the staff, from the receptionists to the nurses, surgeons, consultants, everybody seemed totally dedicated, friendly, and polite. Downside was the car parking, with queues of cars trawling the car park, which made me feel nervous about getting to appointments on time. Also didn't appreciate the people who were all smoking outside the front door. The other negative point was that every time I visited, there was a recorded message customer service phone call from Broomfield. Really worried me the first time that I missed the call and wondered why they were ringing! However, they were small issues. The bigger issue (my diagnosis and treatment) - I haven't been able to fault so far. So thank you.

I had an appointment yesterday at 09.20am, as I live in Colchester and the traffic can sometimes be horrendous, I made sure I left early!! I arrived at the hospital at 08.45am, so in plenty of time. Checked in and waited for my name to come up on the screen. At 09.45am, no name up, I decided to ask somebody. I was told I should of been called and to go and sitting in waiting Room 2. After another 15 minutes, I asked again, and was told I was in the wrong waiting room and go and sit in Room 5. It was 10.15am by this time and I was getting a bit fed up. I needed to get back to Colchester by 11.30am as I had a business appointment which I could not change and being a professional I did not want to be late!!! I explained all to the nurse and told her I had to go. She told me they would sort it out in a minute. Yet again another 15 minutes passed and guess what nobody came!! I now had to leave and told the nurse again, all she said to me was there is a complaints office on the way out!! not sorry, just that!! By this time at 10.45am, I was totally upset, so did complain on the way out and was told that somebody would be touch with me during the day. You have guessed it, nothing. My experience at Broomfield was completely shoddy and needs to be sorted. Patients have got lives and running my own business I needed to get to my appointement. I must add that the treatment that I should have had yesterday was already 2 weeks overdue. Perhaps it was a one off and a bad day but looking up at all the screens at 09.00am, all the consultants and clinics were running 30-60 minutes at the start of the morning!! God help you if your appointment is at 11.00am!!!!!!

Having never had so much as a cold before it came as a total shock to the system when I was told that I was ill. I was terrified and as a result became the patient from hell. The staff at Broomfield were so extremely understanding and caring. The hospital itself is very clean and well maintained. If I have one criticism it is the length of time you have to wait to collect prescriptions at the hospital pharmacy. It has on occasion been well in excess of an hour and when you're already in dire need of getting home this is far too long.

Since finding a lump on my breast and being diagnosed with cancer I have had very fast and efficient treatment. It's not over yet but all the staff and care have been brilliant so far and hopefully will carry on that way. I wouldn't have got better treatment if I went privately. Well done to all involved.

I was in Rayne Ward for 5 days in December 2014. My only criticism would be the need for more staff during the night shifts. They were very short staffed which caused the nurses on duty to be extremely busy. But apart from that I cannot fault the care I received. I, and my family, were extremely impressed with the staff and Rayne Ward. Many thanks.

Since my first operation in February 2013 I have always found the staff to be careing, friendly, courteous and professional in their approach to patient care. I still have no reservations in recommending anyone who needs specialist care to be the hospital.
